Tropical Storm Aletta weakening

Tropical Storm Aletta will be weakening while a new disturbance takes shape to its east.

- Tropical Storm Aletta is slowly showing signs of weakening as it slides westward through the open East Pacific.
- As of 8pm PDT Wednesday the center of Tropical Storm Aletta was located about 840 miles to the south-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico with top winds of 40 mph.
- Aletta is forecast to make a turn to the northwest and eventually the north as it weakens Thursday.
- Tropical Storm Aletta is expected to dissipate late in the week or over the weekend.
- An area of disturbed weather about 500 miles to the south of Acapulco, Mexico is being monitored for future development.
- This disturbance has been showing increasing signs of organization and could become a tropical depression over the next few days.
- The low is moving westward well south of the Mexico coastline and is not a threat to land at this time.
